Ghanaian actor Alex Kofi Adu affectionately called Agya Koo has revealed that there was a plot by some producers in the movie industry to sabotage his career.
Agya Koo disclosed that he once refused to go n*ked in a scene in the popular movie Okomfo Anokye all because he frowns on p*rnographic scenes in movies.
He continued that due to his refusal to go n*ked in that particular movie, some producers ‘ganged’ up to destroy his career.
“Some people planned to bring my brand down. It was some producers and crew members who sat down to do that. They warned other producers to forgo featuring me in movies otherwise they would not market it,” Agya Koo revealed.
Agya Koo attributed his refusal to go n*de to a warning which was issued by Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II to producers to limit p*rnographic scenes in Kumawood movies.
He stated that he saw no reason why some producers decided to sabotage him just because he stood firm to his principles.
“People planned against me. They were mostly crew members and producers in the industry. They claimed they will never market my movies. People planned. I was Okomfo Anokye and was supposed to bath in a river.
I was supposed to go n*ked for the scene but I rejected because the movie was going to educate people so I didn’t want to do that. I told them it was not professional. Besides Otumfuo Osei Tutu II had already told me to help stop the act. I had been keen against p*rnography in the industry. Why would people hate me for that?”, he questioned.
