Sometimes being dedicated to your work in the face of obstacles can pay off when other admire your tenacity.

Remember the story of the Ghanaian teacher who had to draw MS Word on the blackboard for his students because they had no computers to learn in school? Well, he’s getting a computer now.

Identified as Richard Appiah Akoto, he became a viral sensation after his photo hit social media. Not only did the trend in Ghana but his story was picked up all over Africa, leading a Cameroonian entrepreneur to mention Microsoft on Twitter and ask them for help.

Microsoft responded, and not only did they pledge to send Akoto a computer, but they also promised him free access to their professional programs for his personal development.

Hey @MicrosoftAfrica, he’s teaching MS Word on a blackboard. Surely you can get him some proper resources. https://twitter.com/africatechie/status/967705443110998017
