Veteran Ghanaian actor/comedian Super OD, real name Asona Kweku Darko has died, DesiderataNews.com can confirm.
The ‘Cross Fire’ and ‘Fatal Decision’ actor died in the morning of Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Swedru Government Hospital in Swedru, in the Central Region.
The late Super OD, aged 84, has been off the screens for some time now, due to the ill-health that has rendered him, unable to walk.
His death was confirmed by his son known as Simon on Accra-based Hitz 103.9 FM’s Daybreak Hitz.
Simon, who revealed that his later father has been on admission at the hospital for some time now noted that “when you speak with him, he could only respond by nodding his head. We went to there this morning to help him bath and make sure the nurses will come and take care of him. They told us to go and buy some medicines. I realised that something strange was going to happen because he became heavy when we were trying to raise him. He was breathing slowly and the voice was gone.”
“While he was breathing in and out slowly, we just prayed to God but what would happened would happen,” he sorrowfully added.
He enjoyed a very blissful career in acting, especially between the 1970s to the 1990’s. He was also popular for his roles in local Ghanaian series, Akan Drama which aired on GTV.
Acting with the Oppong Drama Group which later became known as Osofo Dadzie Group, Super O.D gained nationwide popularity for his impeccable acting and rib cracking jokes.
